MOA's "What
If..." Department
A Unique MOA Members Benefit
"We hope you never have
to use..."
Lets face it,
individual Mooney owners simply can't be expected to know every nuance concerning the "care and feeding" of
Mooneys, dealing with the FAA, or how to best handle a simple "Gear-Up" or
other insurance claim etc.
From time to time however, you may have read well-researched articles from industry
experts in
various magazines
such as Aviation Consumer and The MOA PILOT etc. (in fact, we will reprint
some here). Somehow for many of us it seems just when you want to refer back to
them, you can't lay your hands on them when you need 'em the most...! Just for
those occasions, we bring you this unique Members Benefit which we hope you never have to
use...

MOA has assembled a team of Mooney savvy experts
to offer their best advice and council for those trying times when you need expert advice
especially when "time may be of the essence..."
What You Should Do When....
1)
The FAA beckons something verbally like: "Please
call the tower after you land..."
2) You land
"Gear Up" without putting
your gear down first.
3) You get a "friendly" letter from the FAA asking you to simply explain why you did
what you did...
4) Your
A&P calls to tell you you have severe airframe (or 4130 tubular fuselage) rust/corrosion
which just grounded your Mooney... big time!
5) You have an "off airport" landing event and/or
significant insurance claim
6) You have
a simple "gear collapse" landing event
7) You have a "prop
strike" OR even a sudden stopage-of sorts...
8) Your shop calls to tell you you
have totally unexpected engine problems
big time...And your engine you thought your engine wasn't ready for an O/Haul, or even
close...!
Many times owners call or email MOA headquarters with un-expected problems
looking for timely expert advice. Often times they are facing critical situations for
which they feel they aren't equipped to handle perhaps simply because they haven't dealt
with similar circumstances prior. After all, this is perfectly
understandable. This section is designed to help you to learn from others mistakes
and benefit from their knowledge. While we hope you will never have to use the
information collected here, but if you ever do it may very well save you time, heartache,
and money.
